Obituary

Minnie H. Harris, 90, life-long resident of Troy (Armenia Mountain, PA) passed away peacefully on the morning of Friday, May 3, 2024, at her home with loving family by her side.

Minnie Harriet Harris was born February 28, 1934, in Armenia Township; she was one of eight children of the late Loren and Hazel (Dunbar) Harris.

Minnie grew up in the family's small farmhouse located on Armenia Mt. where she was instilled with a hard work ethic. She attended and graduated from the Canton Area Schools.

Minnie was employed for over 30 years by GTE Sylvania in Towanda until her retirement.  She possessed many interests and hobbies throughout life including; ironing, reading, word searches, listening to country music, shopping, cooking and flowers, especially roses.

Minnie was a caring person that whole heartedly loved her family, as well as, taking care of them and others alike. She will be truly missed.

She leaves behind her siblings, Pearl Harris of SD, Phyllis Harris, Alfred "Bud" (Marge) Harris, Marie Harris all of Armenia Mt. and Sharon Hulslander of Ulster, nieces and nephews, Loren "Stub" (Helen) Wilston of SD, Lyle (Sue) Thomas, Pam (Steve) Fowler all of Canton, Linda (Bill) Pierce of Troy, Brad Thomas of Armenia Mt., Peg Hartford of Shunk, Sheila Porter, Rich Porter both of Canton, Howard (Tami) Shedden of Covington, Steve (Nicole) Harris of Armenia Mt., Kylie (Gerry) Slater of Ulster, several great nieces, great nephews, cousins, friends and neighbors.

Besides her parents, Minnie was predeceased by three uncles, Lawrence, Claude and Lewis Dunbar, two sisters and their spouses, Lila (Thomas) Thomas, Mable (Art Porter) (Bryce Shedden Sr) Shedden, son-in-law, Dick Hulslander, nephew-in-law, Rocky Hartford, three nieces, Elaine Harris, Cheryl Porter and Lynnette Hulslander.

The family invites friends to call from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. on Friday, May 10, 2024, at the Pepper Funeral Home and Cremation Facility, 578 Springbrook Drive in Canton.  The funeral service to honor Minnie's life will follow at 1:30 p.m. with Rev. Kenneth Marple officiating.  Burial will be held in the Alba Cemetery.
