Minnie L. Hunter, 86, of Ralston, PA peacefully passed away while surrounded by her loving family onFriday evening, December 28, 2018, at Manor Care South in Williamsport.
Born July 15, 1932, in Crandletown, PA (Lycoming County near Pleasant Stream), Minnie Louise was a daughter of the late Donald and Nola (Barnett) Oliver. She married the love of her life, Robert C. "Bob" Hunter on October 11, 1953. They were blessed with five children and over 30 wonderful years together before his passing on Feb. 3, 1994. Caring for family and home came first in Minnie's life. "Grandma Hunny" to her grandchildren, Minnie also helped in raising many of the kids in the Ralston area. She will be remembered by all who knew her as a loving and supportive person who instilled that quality on to her family. She was a member of the Ralston United Methodist Church. Minnie enjoyed bird watching; Cardinals were her favorite. She also loved yellow roses.
Surviving are her children; Robert D. (Caroline) Hunter of Montoursville, Rosa Hartford and Debra (Jim) Sechrist all of Ralston, Sherry DeVinney of Barbours and Frank C. (Bonnie) Hunter of Ralston; a brother, Jessie Oliver of Williamsport, special niece and two granddaughters who Minnie helped raise; Cheryl (Terry) Moore of Florida, Autumn and Amber Hunter both of Ralston. Minnie was Grandma to 21 grandchildren and 40 great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, cousins, dear friends and neighbors. In addition to her beloved husband Bob, Minnie was predeceased by six siblings; Donald Oliver, Grover Oliver, twin brother Frank Oliver, Frances Moyer, Bertha Hill and Violet Hose; grandson, Jeremiah Hartford, great grandson, Mason Millard; two sons-in-law, Kent "Bucky" Hartford and Randy DeVinney.
Calling hours are 11 – 1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 31, at Pepper Funeral Home & Cremation Facility, 578 Springbrook Dr., Canton. Pastor Cecily Eisley will officiate the funeral service at 1 p.m. followed by burial in Beech Flats Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Minnie would have appreciated memorials to St. Jude's Children's' Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.
