Nelson R. Buckwalter, 92, of Ralston, Pa., formerly of West Chester, passed away Thursday, July 18, 2019.

"Bucky", to friends and family, was born August 9,1926 to the late Elton and Mildred (Whitwam) Buckwalter. He graduated in 1944 from Tredyffrin-Easttown High School in Wayne, Pa. Bucky was proud of his WWII service to our country as a U.S. Army tank driver. He was involved in several campaigns in Germany including the Battle of the Bulge.

An accomplished woodworker, Bucky made and repaired fine furniture. If it was broke, his "Bucky patent" could and would fix about anything. He always appreciated the beauty of the mountains of Pennsylvania and after many years of visits and hunting trips, in 1966, he moved to Ralston where he operated an antique shop and sold cars and real-estate.

Bucky is survived by his beloved companion of 29 years, Jane Soper; stepchildren, Norman "Petey" (Diane) Gray, Catherine (Mark) LaMarch and Patricia Gray; three grandchildren, Samantha, Dena and Scott, several nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family; Marilyn (Alfred) Route, Bonnie Bryan and their families, along with a community of friends.

He was predeceased by his wife Caroline; three siblings, Betty Hahn, Kenneth and Raymond Buckwalter and a stepson, Jerome Gray.

A celebration of life followed by military honors for Bucky will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 10, at Pepper Funeral Home, 578 Springbrook Dr. Canton. A private burial will be at a later date.
