Obituary

Norma Jane (Schanbacher) Moyer went to her heavenly home on Saturday, February 29, after a brief illness. The daughter of Carl and Elizabeth (Decker) Schanbacher, of East Point, she was born July 27, 1937 in Canton, Pa.

She graduated from Liberty Joint High School in 1955 and continued her education at Jean Summer's Business School in Elmira. After her graduation, she worked for C.A. Bullock, Esq., in Canton.

Cecil Moyer soon won her affection and they were married June 13, 1959. They would have celebrated 61 years of marriage in June.

True partners in everything, Norma worked side by side with Cecil on the family dairy farm in East Point. She was a life-time member of East Point Ebenezer United Methodist Church where she served as organist and pianist for many years. She was also deeply involved in the workings of the church and the community as a member of the Ladies Aide and Pollyanna.

She helped shape agricultural policy as a member of the Pennsylvania Farm Bureau. As a member of the Southern Tioga FFA Alumni, Norma received her Honorary Chapter Farmer Degree in 2019.

She was always among the first to help in any situation, sharing her exceptional baking and cooking skills with her family, friends and community members.

In addition to her husband, Norma is survived by her three children, Myrna Palchak (Teko) of Bellefonte, Laurie Young (Dan Fox), of Muncy and Paul (Carolyn), of East Point. She is also survived by seven grandchildren: Monica Tedesco (Jared), Luke Knowlden (Hope), Matthew Young (Kayla), Charlie, Gregory, Andrew and Camryn Moyer. She also found joy in her great grandchild Pete Tedesco, and step great grandchildren Kiyana, Latlyn, Atreyu and Ezra. Norma is also survived by her dear sister-in law Dorothy Schanbacher and many nieces and nephews.

She was pre-deceased by her parents Carl and Elizabeth Schanbacher, father and mother–in-law Charles and Eleanor Moyer and brother Gordon Schanbacher.

Friends and family will be received Friday, March 6th at the East Point Ebenezer United Methodist Church from 10 AM until 1 PM with a Celebration of Life service to follow. Dinner will be served at the church immediately after the services.

In lieu of flowers the family would ask that donations be made in Norma's name to the East Point UMC Memorial Fund in care of Steve Guillaume, PO Box 43, Liberty, PA 16930.

The Pepper Funeral Home and Cremation Facility, 578 Springbrook Dr., Canton is assisting the family with arrangements.
