Obituary

Norman "Norm" Jackson, 93, life-long resident of Roaring Branch, PA (Union Twp.) passed away unexpectedly on Monday, October 28, 2024, at his home. Norman Richard was born October 21, 1931, in Ogdensburg, a son of the late Harvey "Tracy" and Viola (Gruver) Jackson. He attended Canton Area Schools and was a graduate of the class of 1950. On May 13, 1956, Norm married the former Jean Yonkin in White Pine, Pa. Together they shared 68 years of loving marriage and raised four children. Norman proudly served his country in the United States Army until 1963.  Norman worked as a Township Supervisor for Union Township in his earlier years, was on the board of Eastern Milk Producers for several years. He was a hard worker and saw to the daily operations of Ridge Nook Farm in Union Township for many years. Norm never retired, a true farmer at heart and steward of his land.

Norm loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a member of the NEBA and was on various local bowling leagues as well as the Can-Tro baseball league team, where he was a talented pitcher, in earlier years.

Norman is survived by his wife, Jean at home, sister-in-law, Gladys Jackson of Roaring Branch, three sons; Tom (Deb) Jackson of Montoursville, Steve (Angela) Jackson of Canton and Mike (Shelia) Jackson of Roaring Branch, grandchildren; Carrie (Shawn) Wright, Nathan (Christina) Jackson, Jason (Rebecca) Jackson, Shay Janczak, Justin Jackson, Johnny Wright, Jason Wright, Christopher (Jen) Jackson and Samuel (Jessica) Jackson, as well as 22 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, neighbors and dear friends.

Besides his parents, Norman was predeceased by a son; Gary Jackson, siblings; Galen Jackson, Marjorie Gardner, Clara Cole, Dorothy McNett, Gladys Doan, George Jackson, and Hazel Chomenko.

Calling hours are 12 noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday, October 30, at the Ogdensburg Church of Christ, 13065 Route 14, Roaring Branch, PA 17765. The funeral service and celebration of his life will follow at 1 p.m. with Pastor Dan Walker officiating. Burial will be in the Ogdensburg Cemetery.
