Obituary

Owen L. Brackman, 92, of Leroy Township, passed away on July 7, 2026, at the Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre. Born on July 5, 1934, in Leroy Township, Owen was the son of the late John and Hazel (Wilcox) Brackman. He attended Canton Area Schools and graduated with the Class of 1952.

A lifelong farmer, Owen and his brother Paul proudly carried on their father’s legacy at Leroy Dale Farms. Together they managed the daily operations of the dairy farm with steady dedication until their retirement in 2018. Owen was a member of the Windfall Grange, Pamona Grange, where he was the treasurer, was Granger of the year, the Golden Gurneys Association, and the East Canton United Methodist Church.

Bones, as known by many, loved sports and spent many years playing softball in the Troy and Canton Softball Leagues, enjoyed bowling, and later in life appreciated a good round of golf. He was a familiar face at school sporting events, always supporting the local teams. He also found quiet enjoyment in reading. In his younger years Owen was an avid hunter and liked to travel.

Surviving Owen are several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, dear friends and neighbors.

Besides his parents, Owen was predeceased by his brothers and sisters-in-law; Lewis (Irma) Brackman, Charles (Audrey) Brackman and Paul (Nancy) Brackman.

A time of visitation will be held from 11 – 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 11, 2026, at the East Canton United Methodist Church, 5793 Route 414, Canton, PA 17724. A celebration of Owen’s life will follow at 11:30 a.m. Burial in Windfall Cemetery will be private and held at the convenience of the family. Pepper Funeral Home and Cremation Facility, 578 Springbrook Drive in Canton is assisting the family with arrangements. In lieu of flowers memorial donations in Owen’s name may be directed to the East Canton United Methodist Church, 5793 Route 414, Canton, PA 17724.
