Pauline E. (Cole) Burgess, 86, of Burlington, PA passed away peacefully on Thursday May 16, 2024, at the Sayre Health Care Center in Sayre, while surrounded by her loving children.
Pauline Evelyn Cole was born June 25, 1937, in Sayre a daughter of the late Paul and Gladys (Alexander) Cole.
Pauline grew up in the family's farm near Big Pond, PA and at a young age was instilled with a hard work ethic. She attended and graduated from the Troy Area Schools, class of 1956 and received the Troy American Legion Auxiliary's Certificate of School Award.
She later was employed by the Penn State Cooperative Extension Program as an instructor for many years until her retirement in 1999.
Pauline was an avid bowler. She enjoyed reading and playing cards, especially with her card club. Pauline was also a talented quilter and devoted member of the local quilt club where they made numerous beautiful quilts. In earlier years, she was very active in the local 4H.
She leaves behind her children, Debra Winslow of Millerstown, PA, Jeff Burgess of Towanda, Gene (Rose) Burgess of Troy, grandchildren, Dessire Burgess, Amber Burgess, Ben Winslow, Matthew Winslow, Jason (Jessica) Shipman, Andrew Shipman, great grandchildren, Courtney Westbrook, Jasmine Shipman, Lynden Shipman, Remington Shipman, great great-grandchildren, and great great grandchildren, sisters, Grace Comfort, Faye Rathbun, Mertie Shedden, a sister-in-law, Pat Cole, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins
Besides her parents, Pauline was predeceased by a brother, Larry Cole.
The family invites friends to call from 12:00 noon to 1:00 p.m. on Monday, May 20, 2024, at the Pepper Funeral Home and Cremation Facility, 578 Springbrook Drive in Canton. A memorial service to honor Pauline's life will follow at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Dale Harper officiating. Burial will be held in the Bradford County Memorial Park at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Mrs. Pauline Burgess' name may be directed to the Troy Food Pantry, 523 Elmira St. Troy, PA 16947.
