Obituary

Peggy Lou (Shive) Walters, of Granville Summit, PA passed away April 21, 2026 at the Guthrie Robert Packer Hospital, Sayre, PA with her family by her side.

Peg was born in Sellersville, PA March 11, 1944 to the late John A and the late Dorothy (Wambold) Shive. She grew up in Silverdale, PA, then her family moved to Perkasie, PA in 1959.

She met the love of her life, the late Robert A Walters. Peg and Bob were high school sweethearts, attending Pennridge High School. They married in 1961 and shared 58 wonderful years together before Bob’s passing in 2019.

Before moving to Granville Summit, PA, Peg and Bob raised their family in Ivyland, PA and Buckingham, PA and over those years made many lifelong friendships. When they purchased their farm in Bradford County in 1995, the late Charles Allen was their realtor and neighbor. From that day on Peg & Bob enjoyed the Allen Family’s friendship. They were always there with just a phone call.

Surviving Peg are her children; Judy (Rich) Lodwig of Granville Summit, PA (Holland, PA); Barbara (John) Walters-Hyrsl of Ottsville PA; Robert Jr. (Kim) Walters of Sellersville, PA; Michael (Alisha) Walters of Quakertown, PA and Kate Walters (Scott Woodward) of Granville Summit, PA. Her grandchildren; Nick (Amy) Pearson, Andrew (Hannah) Walters, Ryan Walters, Lucille Gehringer, Nicole Walters, Emma Walters, Rachel Walters and Lucas Walters. Her great-grandchildren; Laikyn and Leonidas Gehringer, Charlotte Walters. Her sisters; Miriam (the late Pat) Clark, Mary Landes, the late Joan (the late Tony) Gwiazdzinski and Linda (Bruce) Torrence. Her sister-in-law Pat (the late Ken) Walters, brother-in-law Steve (Carol) Walters and many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Luna, Peg’s devoted dog, family and many friends will miss her every day.

In 1977, Pipersville Garden Center opened, Peg was the owner with Bob at her side. There wasn’t much they didn’t do together. They loved to travel, their favorite places were Florida, New Orleans and Alaska. Most of all, Peg’s favorite place was her home in Granville Summit, PA. She loved when family and friends visited.

You would always find Peg in the kitchen, cooking and baking especially her soups, creamed dried beef, potato salad and roll-out cookies. Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners will always be a cherished family memory.

One of her favorite activities was the Heritage Garden Club of Troy, PA. She was an active member for many years. The flowers Peg grew in her garden earned her many blue ribbons at the Troy Fair.

Peg was a member of the Plumstead Lions Club, Pipersville, PA; lifelong member of Lady Sellers Rebekah Lodge #558 in Sellersville, PA; an associate member of Wysox Rebekah Lodge #443 and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary Patriarchs Militant, Allentown Lodge #39, serving a term of President and having the honor of placing a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Arlington Cemetery Washington, DC. Peg was also honored to receive the Decoration of Chivalry.

In keeping with Peg’s wishes, there will be no services. A celebration of life will be announced at the convenience of the family at a later date.
