Phyllis T. Foster, 88, of Ulster, PA (Smithfield Township) passed away peacefully at home while surrounded by loved ones on Monday morning, December 17, 2018.
Phyllis, "Dutch" to family and friends, was born August 4, 1930, in Horseheads, NY, a daughter of the late Earl E. and Mae Elizabeth (Dunbar) Teribury. She was a 1948 graduate of Troy High School. On November 29, 1952, she married Harold J. Foster in Wellsboro. Her beloved Harold predeceased her on July 9, 2018. Family and home always came first in Phyllis' life. She was a woman whose faith in the Lord's word guided her life and was a long-time member of the East Troy Baptist Church. Phyllis enjoyed reading and jigsaw puzzles. She also was very talented with sewing, knitting and crocheting projects.
Surviving are her children, Patty F. Childs of East Smithfield, David A. Foster (Bill Millhollen) of Waverly, NY, and Tammy L. (Ron) Ostrander of Newfield, NY, eight grandchildren; Valerie (Andy) Baalerud of Eagle River, AK, Kelly (Ryan) King of Granville Summit, Jody McMahon of Pottstown, Scott (Jacala) Voorhees of Lockhart, TX, Dustin Voorhees of Buda, TX, Michael Jr. (Brittany) Foster of Fort Pierce, FL, Christopher Foster of Lebanon and Shannon Ostrander of Newfield, NY, 11 great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to Harold, her husband of 66 years, Phyllis was predeceased by her son, Michael L. Foster, granddaughter, Eva M. Childs, son-in-law, Craig S. Childs (U.S. Army Major Retired) and five siblings; Earl Teribury Jr., Marie McClure, Janice Young, Carolyn Whitlock Welch and Shirley Brown.
In keeping with Mrs. Foster's wishes, a memorial service will be held Sunday, Jan. 13, 2019 at The LOOM, 439 Waverly St. in Waverly, NY. Visitation is from 1:30 - 3 P.M. Rev. Garry Zuber and Rev. Dan Walker will officiate the service following at 3:00. A private burial will be held in Glenwood Cemetery in Troy. In lieu of flowers, consider a donation in Phyllis' name to the East Troy Baptist Church, P.O. Box 21 Troy, PA 16947.
