While surrounded by loved ones, Randy Lee DeVinney, 58, of Barbours, PA was called home to the Lord on Tuesday, October 9, 2018 from the Gatehouse in Williamsport.
Born October 13, 1959 in Bellefonte, PA, Randy was a son of Barbara (Keller) Mills of Centre Hall, PA and the late Charles DeVinney. He was a 1977 graduate of State College High School and received an Associate's degree in Forestry from the formerWACC in Williamsport. Randy enjoyed his career as a self-employed lumber broker. He was married to the former Sherry Hunter on Aug. 3, 2002 at their home.
Randy will be lovingly remembered as a thoughtful and reserved person who sometimes kept to himself; he drew strength by spending time in the woods that he knew so well. Randy was also a devoted family man who cherished his children and grandchildren. His hobbies included woodworking, hunting, NASCAR'S Dale Earnhardt Sr., the Pittsburgh Pirates and Los Angeles Rams. He was proud of his home, kept his yard immaculate and enjoyed listening to music, especially The Doors and George Thorogood.
In addition to his mother, Barbara (Bill) Mills, surviving is Sherry, his wife of 16 years; children, Niles DeVinney of Pittsburgh and Sara DeVinney of Jersey Shore (fiancé Seth Toboz); stepchildren, Kevin Hughes of Pittsburgh, Ryan Hughes of Barbours and Christina (Dustin) Bedford of Canton; grandchildren, Donovan, Tyson, Drake, Bryce and Cayleigh; siblings, Chuck (Carol) DeVinney of Kentucky, Deb (Bob) Reese of Centre Hall and Jodi (Scott) Williams of Pleasant Gap; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. Also surviving are his best friends, Ricky Thomas of Barbours and Donnie Smith of Proctor and his beloved dog Rosie.
In addition to his father, he was predeceased by grandparents, Charles and Ida Keller and John and Lillian DeVinney.
Calling hours are 12 – 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 13, at the Loyalsock Baptist Church, 107 Dunwoody Rd. in Barbours. Deacon Sam Ranck will officiate a service to celebrate Randy's life at 2 p.m. A dinner will follow at Plunketts Creek Fire Hall. Interment will be private. Consider a memorial to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.
