Obituary

Richard "Dick" Bellows Sr., 88, beloved husband of Barbara Bellows, passed away at his residence on Monday, February 5, 2024, while surrounded by his loving family. Richard Gerald Bellows was born February 23, 1935, in Elmira, New York. He was a son of the late Myrton and Doris (Sage) Bellows. Dick attended Canton Area Schools and was a graduate of the class of 1953. On June 10, 1955, Dick married the former Barbara Swain in
Ft. Lewis, Washington. Together they shared 68 years of loving and devoted marriage and raised six children. Richard enlisted into the United States Army in 1955 where he proudly served his country for two years. Always a hard worker, Dick was employed for nearly 35 years at Westinghouse in Horseheads, New York until his retirement in 1993. He was a member of the Ogdensburg Church of Christ, lifetime member of the Canton American Legion post 303, I.B.E.W Union of Elmira, New York and a former member of the Odd Fellows Lodge in Leroy.

Dick was not one to have idle hands. He enjoyed woodworking and gardening. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. Journaling was something Dick truly enjoyed. Most important to Dick was his family and anytime he was able to spend with them.

Dick leaves behind his wife, Barbara at home, children; Bonita (Paul Sr.) Crispell of Gillett, Richard (Marie) Bellows Jr. of Canton, Becky (Dennis) Spencer of Granville Summit, Jeffery (Julie) Bellows of Roaring Branch and Cindy (Gary) Black of Canton, grandchildren; Paul (Lisa Philips) Crispell Jr., Heather (Jon) Frisbie, Jason Bellows, Stacy (Matt) Chamberlain, Jessica (Kurt) Lentz, Randy May, Jazmyn Frisbie, Marcus Frisbie, Jamie (Dustin) Putnam, Jenna (Matt) LaMont, Corrin (Kris) West, Rachel Black and Emily (Aidan) McCarty, as well as numerous great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, dear friends and neighbors.

Besides his parents, Dick was predeceased by a son; Shawn Bellows, grandsons; Dennis May, Shane Bellows and Nathan Spencer, a brother; Larry Bellows and a sister and brother-in-law; Shirley (Bill) Hawkins.

Visitation will be held from Noon to 1 P.M. on Saturday, February 10, 2024, at the Ogdensburg Church of Christ, 13065 Route 414, Roaring Branch, PA 17765. A celebration of Dick's life will follow at 1 P.M. with military honors accorded afterwards. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Mr. Bellow's name may be directed to the Ogdensburg Church of Christ.
