Rickie (Rick) Welch, 76, of Troy, PA passed away at his daughter's home on Tuesday, September 23, 2025. He was born to the late Richard Welch and Barbara Grover on October 14th, 1948. He attended Troy area schools and graduated with the class of 1966. After graduating he enlisted in the US Army. On September 9, 1972, Rick married the former Mary "Fran" Ashton at the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Elmira, NY. Together they raised two daughters and shared 44 years of loving marriage until Fran's passing on October 11, 2016.
Rick spent his career employed by the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board where he managed and worked at the Troy store. For many years he also worked as a local DJ, providing music for many weddings, parties, and school dances. Rick was a member of the Troy Lion's Club for several years. In his spare time, he enjoyed bowling in several leagues and spending time with his wife and two daughters.
Rick was preceded in death by his parents, his spouse, Mary Frances Welch, daughter, Amanda O'Connor, grandson, Benjamin O'Connor and a sister, Debbie Wright.
He is survived by his daughter, Kimberly (Brian) Tingler, son in law, John O'Connor, brother, Randy (Olga) Welch, sister, Sharon Wood, grandchildren, Christopher (Nicole) O'Connor, Brittany O'Connor, Ryan O'Connor, Noah Tingler, Makenna Tingler, and Lydia Tingler, as well as several nieces and nephews and cousins.
There will be a visitation for family and friends on October 11th, 2025, from 1-3 p.m. at the Pepper Funeral Home and Cremation Facility, 578 Springbrook Dr. Canton. There will be no service after the visitation. Rick will be laid to rest at Troy's Oak Hill cemetery, a graveside service for the immediate family will be held at their convenience. To honor Mr. Welch's service to our country military honors will be accorded.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Rick's loving memory may be directed to the Troy Lions Club's Christmas Basket Program, P.O. Box 215, Troy, PA 16947 or The Ronald McDonald House, 24 Trembulak Way, Danville, PA 17822.
