Robert L. Jones, 88, of Bath, New York, formerly of Canton and Troy, passed away on Monday March 18, 2024 at the IRA Davenport Skilled Nursing Facility in Bath, NY. Robert Lundy was born August 9, 1935 in Grover, a son of the late Harry and Ruth (Lundy) Jones. Bob, as known by most, attended Canton Area Schools. On January 31, 195 Robert married the love of his life, the former Edna Raub. Together they shared 49 years of loving marriage and raised four children. Always a hard worker Bob was employed by the Richard Sweet Farm on Porter Road in Troy in his younger years and then PennDOT until his retirement in 1990. One to always stay busy, Bob then worked at many local farms helping to sell their cattle

Bob had a passion for horses. Early in life he pulled draft horses and later he continued to go to the pulls every chance he had. Farming, especially cows, was another thing he truly loved. He and his wife Edna enjoyed square dancing when they were younger. Family trips, never to far away, and camping with his family were enjoyable times. Bob hated the four lane highways, he was one to take a dirt road over a mountain to get to his destination, never a main road. He would load up his family and his parents after their Sunday dinners, find a dirt road and see where it would take them. These rides often ended at an ice cream shop. Bob had a unique smile that made you wonder what he was up to. He was an old-fashioned individual who was set in his ways. Most important to Bob was his family, especially his grandchildren whom he loved dearly.

Robert leaves behind his children; Michael (Shelley) Jones of Florida, Gregory (Sandi) Jones of Troy, Rhonda (John) Billmeyer of Bath and Barbara Williams of Bath, NY, grandchildren; Shondra, Bridget, Joshua, Ryan, Jenna, Chelsi, Mason and Makenzie, 13 great grandchildren, a sister; Harriet (Larry) Smith of Canton, sister-in-law; Caroline Jones as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his parents and wife Edna, Robert was predeceased by his brothers; Carl Jones and Harry (Sandy) Jones, a sister; Althea (Howard) Henne and his son-in-law; Phil Williams.

A time of visitation will be held on Saturday, March 30, 2024 from 1 – 2 P.M. at Pepper Funeral Home and Cremation Facility, 578 Springbrook Drive in Canton. A funeral service will follow at 2 P.M. Burial will be held in Beech Flats Cemetery.
