Robert T.
McIlvaine Sr.
May 30, 1938 — Oct 13, 2026
Roaring Branch
Robert T. McIlvaine Sr., 88, of Roaring Branch, passed away peacefully at his residence on Tuesday, October 13, 2026. Robert Thomas was born May 30, 1938, in Woodbury, New Jersey, a son of the late Llewellyn and Gladys (Platt) McIlvaine. He attended Woodbury High School, graduating with the Class of 1956. On September 30, 1995, Robert married the former Janet Simpkins in Audubon, New Jersey. Together, the couple shared 31 years of loving marriage.
Robert was employed by DuPont in Deepwater, New Jersey, until his retirement in 2010. He also worked for All States as a welding inspector.
Robert had a true passion for woodworking and woodturning. For many years, he dreamed of having a woodworking shop of his own, and he was proud to eventually make that dream a reality. A talented and resourceful craftsman, Robert could build or fix just about anything placed in front of him. If he needed a special tool or piece to complete a project, rather than buying it, chances were he would simply make it himself.
In addition to woodworking, Robert had a love for photography and enjoyed spending time outdoors. He was a fun-loving man who enjoyed each day, appreciated the life he had, and believed in living it to the fullest.
Robert leaves behind his wife; Janet, at home, children; Lynne (Larry) DiAngelo of Pitman, NJ, Karen (Louis) Burgese of Williamstown, NJ, Gary (Liz) McIlvaine of Woodbury, NJ and Michelle (David) Martineau of Middleton, DE, 4 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, sister; Kathy Bonvillian of Sicklerville, NJ and a daughter-in-law; Judy McIlvaine of Sewell, NJ, as well as nieces, nephews and cousins.
Besides his parents, Robert was predeceased by a son; Robert McIlvaine Jr. and a brother; Richard McIlvaine.
In keeping with Robert’s wishes there will be no services. Pepper Funeral Home and Cremation Facility, 578 Springbrook Drive in Canton is assisting the family with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Mr. McIlvaine’s name may be directed to an animal care sanctuary of your choice.
