IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Ronald E.
Dunbar
May 12, 1942 – July 1, 2025
Ronald E. Dunbar, 83, a lifelong resident of Troy, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, surrounded by his extended family.
Born May 12, 1942, in Troy, Ronald Edward was the son of the late Willis and Julie (Joralemon) Dunbar. He was a proud graduate of Troy Area Schools, Class of 1960. Shortly after graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army, where he honorably served his country.
Ron dedicated thirty-three years of service to North Penn Gas Company before retiring. He was a true outdoorsman, happiest when cutting wood or trap shooting. Whether haying, mowing, or bush hogging around his farm, Ron found deep joy in tending the land.
He is survived by his beloved companion of nineteen years, Jael Crable, and his extended family: Tiffany, Hailey, Ambr, Zach, and Amya Crable. Ron also shared enduring friendships with many who enriched his life. Allen Schoonover, his friend of sixty-one years, joined him in countless adventures snowmobiling, hunting, and watching races. Jesse Stryker was his longtime hunting and trap shooting partner, Erick Campbell remained faithfully by Ron's side during his illness and at the time of his passing. Steve Martian, Ron's road trip companion, was also a loyal friend and collaborator in field work.
Ron's legacy lives on in the lives he touched, the land he tended, and the love he gave freely.
Besides his parents, Ron was predeceased by his wife; Betty Jane (Klobusnik) Dunbar and a sister and brother-in-law; Virginia (Galen) May.
A time of visitation will be held from 10 to 11 A.M. on Saturday, July 5, 2025, at Pepper Funeral Home, 578 Springbrook Drive in Canton. Military Honors will follow at the funeral home. Burial will be private. Memories of Ron and condolences to his family may be shared by visiting www.pepperfuneralhomes.com.
