Ronald L. Haldeman, 84, of Roaring Branch, passed away at his residence on Saturday, November 9, 2024, while surrounded by his loving family. Ronald LaRue was born July 9, 1940, in Williamsport, a son of the late Bruce Haldeman and Hazel (Gamble) Smith. He attended Jersey Shore High School and was a graduate of the class of 1959. On May 13, 1962, Ron married the former Linda Thompson in the Roaring Branch United Methodist Church. Together they shared 62 years of loving marriage and raised four sons. Ronald was employed by the Canton Area School District in Maintenance until his retirement in July of 2003. He was a member of the Ralston United Methodist Church where he was on the Administration Board, the Canton Masonic Lodge #415, and a volunteer for the Ralston Fire Hall Auxiliary.
Ron was a talented carpenter. Helping others always made him smile. Ron loved to travel and spend time with his family and friends.
Ron leaves behind his wife, Linda, at home, sons; Ronald (Sharon) Haldeman Jr. of The Colony, TX, Keith (Wendy) Haldeman of Punxsutawney, PA, Troy (Sierra) Haldeman of Canton, and Travis (JoAnn) Haldeman of Springville, PA, brother-in-law; Benny Thompson of Roaring Branch, eight grandchildren, four great grandchildren, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Besides his parents, Bruce (Ruth) Haldeman and Hazel (Herbert) Smith, Ron was predeceased by a sister and brother-in-law; Mabel (Jack) Maggs, and a sister-in-law; Glenda Thompson.
A time of visitation will be held from 10 – 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 23, 2024, at the Ralston United Methodist Church, 10957 Route 14, Ralston, PA 17763. A memorial service to celebrate his life will follow at 11 a.m. with Pastor Charles Thomas officiating. Pepper Funeral Home and Cremation Facility, 578 Springbrook Drive in Canton is assisting the family with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Ron's name may be directed to UPMC Hospice, 1100 Grampian Blvd., Williamsport, PA 17701.
