IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Ronald E.
Mix
September 27, 1933 – April 14, 2024
Ronald E. Mix, 90, of Canton passed away peacefully on Sunday April 14, 2024, surrounded by his five daughters. Ron was born in Sayre on September 27, 1933, to the late Chester and Christine (Foster) Mix and pre-deceased by his sister Leota, his brother Raymond, his granddaughter Trish, and his first wife and mother of his children, Barbara, and second wife Shirley Mix as well as a son-in-law, William McCarty.
It is very hard to portray what an incredible man Ron was in a few words, but those of you who knew him already know that! Ron was a lifelong resident of Canton and graduated from Canton High School in 1951. He was a National Guard Reservist for 8 years and worked, then managed the Acme Market in town for over 35 years. Ron was an avid golfer and he enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping, bowling, watching all sports and spending time with family and friends. Many of his days were spent taking his daughters fishing with little plastic poles when they were young. Later in life he would spend hours on car rides with his good friend Ed Keefer. Ron also processed deer for the community for 27 years. He was a devoted husband and father and the rock for his family. He had an incredible work ethic and was a role model for all who knew him.
As difficult as it is to lose him, Ron's memory will live on through his surviving family. Daughters; Cathy (Scott Moore) of Canton, Cindy Wheeler of Mainesburg, Carol (Jeff) Deitrick of New Cumberland, PA, Chris (John) Lee of Roaring Branch, and Connie (Bob) Zigman of New Cumberland, PA, his grandchildren Danielle Manahan, Misty (Justin) Cott, Scotty (Dianah) Wheeler, Raechal (Derek) Stepp, Rebecca Deitrick, Heather Dibble, Ronnie Lee and Johnny (Shawna) Lee, Dylan Zigman and Morgan Zigman, step-grandchildren Stacia (Tom) Politsky, Bill (Jody) McCarty, Patrick (Chrissy) McCarty, 18 great grandchildren and his brother, Dale (Bonny) Mix.
The family would like to add a very special thank you to Sherwood Personal Care Home for their loving care, and his favorite nurse, Mandy.
The family will receive friends from noon to 1 p.m. on Saturday May 18, 2024, at Pepper Funeral Home and Cremation Facility, 578 Springbrook Drive in Canton. A memorial service to honor Ronnie's life will follow at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Herbert Eby officiating and military honors accorded at the funeral home.
