Ruth L. (Bunn) Zeigler, 96, of Canton, passed away on Saturday, June 22, 2024, at the Valley View Rehab and Nursing Center in Montoursville, Pa., where she resided for 5 years.  Ruth was born August 9, 1927, in Union Township, a daughter of the late Donald and Blanche (Thomas) Bunn. She attended Canton Area Schools and was a graduate of the class of 1945. She then went on to further her education at Mansfield State Teachers College, earning her bachelor's degree in teaching in 1949. On November 24, 1949, Ruth married James Zeigler in Ogdensburg. Together they shared 60 years of loving marriage and raised three children prior to Jim's passing in 2009. Ruth taught 3rd grade in Williamsport for one year and in Canton for 26 years, receiving her permanent certification in 1963. She attended the Canton Church of Christ, Ogdensburg Church of Christ and the North Union Church of Christ.
Ruth liked to sew and was a talented artist who made beautiful creations and hand-crafted note cards using watercolors and colored pencils. She and her husband enjoyed square dancing, flower beds, gardening and volunteering at the Canton Apple and Cheese Festival. Watching Canton High School sporting events and local youth sporting events was another favorite past time for Ruth.

Ruth leaves behind her children, Brenda (Les) Hilfiger of Canton and Christopher (Susan) Zeigler of Mt. Holly Springs, PA; grandchildren, Mickel (Rancy) Pepper, Timothy (Danielle) Hilfiger, Zeppelin and Harley Zeigler; eight great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Besides her parents and husband Jim, Ruth was predeceased by her son, J. Craig Zeigler; and her sisters and spouses, Alice (Donald) Buck and Janet (William) Hart.

Visitation will be held from 10 – 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 29, 2024, at Pepper Funeral Home and Cremation Facility, 578 Springbrook Drive in Canton, with a funeral service to celebrate Mrs. Zeigler's life will follow. Burial will be held in East Canton Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Mrs. Ruth L. Zeigler's loving name may be directed to the Green Free Library, 38 N.
