Ruth Ann Johns, 76, of Canton (Ward Township, PA) passed away peacefully on October 1, 2023, at the Dar-way Nursing Facility in Estella, PA.

Ruth Ann was born July 18, 1947, in Wellsboro, PA; one of 24 children of the late Charlie and Lena Mae (Kelsey) Short.

In earlier years, Ruth attended Liberty Area Schools. Ruth enjoyed the mountain's nature and her daily walks. She loved her pets as well as watching her favorite Soap Operas on TV.

She leaves behind her children; Charles David VanZile, Harold J. VanZile, Lena Mae VanZile, Charlie Leroy (Jennie) Johns, 11 grandchildren, several great grandchildren as well as several brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husbands. Charles David VanZile, Clifford Leroy Johns and several siblings.

Visitation will be held on Monday, November 13, 2023, from 1:30 - 2:00 p.m. with a service following at 2 p.m. at Pepper Funeral Home and Cremation Facility, 578 Springbrook Drive in Canton.
