Obituary

Scott Rogers, 63, of Troy, PA passed away at home while surrounded by his family on Monday, February 24, 2014.


Scott Steven Rogers was born on September 21, 1950 in Sayre, PA, a son of the late Donald H. and Ethel (Schreck) Rogers. After graduating from Sayre High School in 1968, he earned a Bachelors of Science degree in accounting from Bloomsburg State College. On September 2, 1972, Scott married the former Patricia Leiby in Bloomsburg. He was employed since 1976 as a CPA and later became a partner with the Allen, Rogers and Osgood Accounting Firm in Troy.


Scott was very involved in his community. He enjoyed being an active member of the Troy First Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, church treasurer and pancake breakfast chairman. He possessed a beautiful voice and sang in the church choir and area gospel groups, Northern Heirs, Higher Ground and Old Hymns. He was a 30-year member of the Troy Rotary Club, serving as president, secretary, assistant district governor, exchange student chairman and wasawarded the Paul Harris Fellow. He was a life member of Troy's Oscoluwa Fire Co. where he earned the honor of fireman of the year. Scott also was a member of the Troy Lodge 306 F&AM, a PIAA high school track official for 30 years and volunteered as an ambulance driver.


Surviving are his wife Pat; two children, Gretchen (Matthew) Geer of Springfield and Zachary Rogers of Sunbury (fiancée Megan Kerlin); two grandchildren, Elizabeth and Evan Geer; three siblings, Brett (Alice) Rogers of Sayre, Seth (Bonnie) Rogers of Wellsboro and Sandy Call of Sayre; a sister-in-law, Carol (Glen) Coombe of Bloomsburg, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.


In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Eli and Jean Leiby.



Calling hours will be 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday,March 1, at the Troy First Baptist Church. Pastor Garry Zuber will officiate the memorial service at 1 p.m. In Lieu of flowers, his family suggests memorials be made to the First Baptist Church, 579 Canton St. or to the Troy Rotary Club, P.O. Box 84 both in Troy, PA 16947. Pepper Funeral Home in Canton is assisting the family with arrangements.
