Obituary

Sherri A. (Bassett) Chaapel, 62, of Troy, passed away at her home on Saturday, October 11, 2025, while surrounded by her loving family. Sherri Ann was born May 1, 1963, in Troy, a daughter to Berdene Podaski and the late Michael Bassett. On June 5, 1993, Sherri married Dale Chaapel in Troy. Together they shared 32 years of marriage and raised two sons. Sherri was employed by Stella's Restaurant, formerly Edgewood's, in Troy and most recently by Tina's Iron Skillet in Sylvania.

Sherri loved nature, especially watching cardinals and the deer behind her house. She was very creative and enjoyed doing diamond art.

Sherri leaves behind, her mother, Berdene, husband, Dale, sons, Scott Bassett and Dustin Chaapel, grandchildren, Serina Bassett, Jared Bassett and Wyatt Chaapel,  brothers, Lynn (Cheri) Bassett, James Bassett and Scott (Jean) Johns, her best friend, Pauline Brown, brothers in law and sisters in law, Victor (Kathy) Chaapel, Loretta (Steve) Wilcox, Bonnie (Roy) Snyder,, Donna (Randy) Porter, Cindy Longstreet and Barbara (Mike Dowling) Chaapel, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Besides her father, she was predeceased by a brother, Michael W. Bassett and a sister-in-law, Nancy Chaapel.

A celebration of Sherri's life will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers and because of her love of animals, please consider a memorial donation in Sherri's name to a local SPCA of choice.
