Shirley A. (Thomas) Esaias, 89, of Canton, passed away on Saturday, January 10, 2026, at Broad Acres Nursing and Rehabilitation in Wellsboro, Pa. Born on June 23, 1936, in Blossburg, Shirley Ann was the daughter of the late Richard and Lucille (Kreger) Thomas. She was a proud graduate of Liberty High School.
Shirley grew up working on her family's farm, a place that shaped her strong work ethic and love of animals. After marrying her husband, Lewis, she continued to work on his farm, where she especially enjoyed caring for her horses. Later, she spent many dedicated years employed at Canford's as an inspector and enjoyed meeting people throughout the community while selling Avon door to door.
She was a longtime member of the North Union Grange, the Order of the Eastern Star, and the North Union Christian Church in Canton, organizations that reflected her values, and commitment to community.
Shirley is survived by several cousins and many friends.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Lewis, she was predeceased by her brother, Harold.
