Obituary

Susan L. (Denham) Smith, 59, of Canton, passed away on Saturday, January 6, 2024 at her residence. Susan Lynn was born May 19, 1964, in­­­ Elmira, NY, a daughter to Paula (Sterling) and the late Clayton Mallory. She attended Troy Area Schools and was a graduate of the class of 1982. On November 30, 2011, Susan married David Denham in Troy. Together they shared 13 years of loving marriage. Sue, as known by most, worked as a manager at a restaurant.

She was a very talented baker, Sue enjoyed baking and decorating cakes for the holidays and special occasions. She was a perfectionist in all aspects of life and took pride in the décor around her house, always making the holidays a memorable and festive time. Sue was very crafty and possessed a creative mind. In her earlier years she enjoyed oil painting, especially of scenery and landscapes. Known to be very smart and sometimes stubborn, Sue was one of the most caring, and kind-hearted people you would ever meet. She always made sure everyone was taken care of and helped anyone she could. Sue was a very family-oriented individual, always bringing the family together. She adored her grandchildren and any times she spent with them were her most treasured.

Sue leaves behind her mother; Paula Mallory and husband; David Denham both of Canton, children; Benjamin (Sarrah) Smith of Elmira and Michelle Smith of Canton, grandchildren; Noah Smith, Amelia Smith and Anastasia Rosetti Smith, a brother; Gordon (Jenny) Mallory of Wellsburg, NY, a niece; Kate (Andrew) Lewis of Athens and their son Axel Lewis and her faithful canine companions; Punky and Pixie.

Sue was predeceased by her father; Clayton Mallory.

In maintaining with her wishes a private graveside service will be held at the Roseville Cemetery. Pepper Funeral Home and Cremation Facility, 578 Springbrook Drive in Canton is assisting the family with arrangements.
