Obituary

Susie Irene (Brown) Ott, aged 93, passed away peacefully on January 22, 2026, in Burlington, PA. She was born on November 5, 1932, in Leolyn, (Tioga County) PA., a daughter of the late Orlo Leaonard Brown and Carrie (Matteson) Brown.

Susie was nurtured on English Hill, where the beauty of God's creation surrounded her. The humble daughter of a dairy farmer, Susie's early education took place in a quaint one-room schoolhouse that laid the foundation for her lifelong love of learning. She exemplified a spirit of perseverance and dedication when she triumphantly graduated with the Canton High School Class of 1978 at the age of 46, a testament to her belief in the value of education.

Susie was a proud homemaker who dedicated many years to volunteering at the Canton Clothing/Senior Center. She was a faithful servant of the Lord, a devout attendee of the Seventh Day Adventist Church, and a cherished member of her community.

Anointed with the gift of poetry, Susie penned verses that celebrated the glory of God's creation and the joy of faith, some of which were lovingly shared in published form. She found delight in singing hymns and in creating scrapbooks with her family. Church camps, festivals, reunions, and yard sales were occasions for fellowship that she cherished deeply, often hosting her own porch sales to welcome conversation and camaraderie.

Susie cherished her large family, always expressing how blessed she was with over 90 grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, whose birthdates she remembered with impressive clarity. Susie had exceptional recall skills of a life well-lived, remaining sharp even as she grew older. She generously shared her abundance of memories from her childhood, always recounting stories, and garnering a good laugh from her listeners.

Guided by the hands of angels to her rest, Susie was preceded in her journey to paradise by her parents; Orlo and Carrie Brown, husbands, Winfield Hulslander and Christopher Ott; a son, Kenneth Brown; a brother, Norman Brown and a niece, Sharon Brown. Susie leaves behind her loving children, Christine (Al) Kertis of Palmyra, PA, Carol Bailey of Canton, PA, John (Apryl) Lowry of Jersey Shore, PA, Rose (Mark) Hamilton of Shunk, PA, and a special granddaughter, Tango (Grant) Cole of Canton, PA, who held a place in her heart akin to that of a daughter.

The Pepper Funeral Home in Canton, PA, has been entrusted with the arrangements. Susie will be laid to rest at Grover Cemetery in a sacred space where she will await the resurrection. A private celebration of her life, filled with prayer and remembrance, will be held according to the family's wishes. In honor of Susie's unwavering faith and service, memorial contributions may be made to the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Canton, PA, as a tribute to her life's devotion to God's work.
