Gary E. Griffin, 66, of Canton, PA passed away Sunday, December 16, 2012.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Beverly; a daughter, Janet (Clark) Dunbar of Troy; two sons, Scott (Cyndi) Griffin of Canton and Kenneth (Frances) Griffin of Warrington, PA; four grandchildren who were the light of his life, Anna, Alexis, Evan and Dean; three sisters, Edoice "Dody" (Ed) Smith, Joan Griffin all of Canton and Audrey (Alan) Boeckle of Warminster, PA; his mother-in-law, Marie May; several sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins and many dear friends, also Cooper, his son's Black Labrador.
Besides his parents, Gary was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Eugene May and a grandson Layton.
Gary Edwin Griffin was born in Troy, PA on March 1, 1946, one of four children of Kenneth E. and Gladys (Palmer) Griffin. He was a member of Canton High School's graduating class of 1965. On October 31, 1965, he married the former Beverly May in LeRoy.
Gary was employed for 38 years at Masonite Corp./Craft Master in Towanda until retiring as a maintenance leadsman.
He attended the LeRoy Independent Baptist Church. Gary was a family man and his grandchildren were very special in his life. He was the type to be busy, whether it was working in his garage, mowing yard, restoring tractors (John Deere was his favorite), camping or riding his Harley. He loved animals, especially dogs. Gary also liked to haggle and was a darn good "wheeler and dealer".
Please note there will bea private timefor immediatefamily at the funeral homeon Thursdayfrom 12 - 1 p.m. Visitation for family andinvitedguests will be from 1 - 2 p.m. with services following.
In lieu of flowers, consider a memorial in Gary's name to a Humane Society or ASPCA of your choice. Pepper Funeral Home, 578 Springbrook Dr., Canton is in care of arrangements.
