Joanne Boyer, 56, of Canton, PA was called home to the angels on Wednesday, August 3, 2016 following a courageous battle with cancer.
Joanne Marie, "Jo" to family and friends, was born May 5, 1960 in Troy, a daughter of Betty (Mingos) Ferguson and the late Nelson Boyer.She was the step-daughter of Gary Ferguson and the late Norman Haflett.Joanne graduated from Troy High School with the class of 1978.When Jo's children were older, she pursued studies in Psychology at Mansfield University where she received a Bachelors degree and continued towards her Masters. Blessed with a caring and giving spirit, Jo enjoyed her work in social services as long as her health permitted.
Jo loved everything about butterflies.She was a creative person and very talented in crocheting and crafting. She was one who could see the fix by looking at the problem.Joanne was a member of the First Christian Church of Alba Disciples of Christ and also enjoyed times shared with their Women's Sewing Circle group.
In addition to her mother and step-father, Betty and Gary "Dad" Ferguson of Canton, surviving are her two sons; Jason (Wynn) Przybycien of Middlebury Center and Marcus (Tiffany) Przybycien of Wellsboro; six grandchildren, Silas, Willow, Anja, Cedric, Ariah and Liam; a sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and Mickey Austin of Troy;three nieces and a nephew, Jessica (Chris) Loudenberg, Brooke Austin, Faith (Luke) Pepper and Eddie Austin; a great nephew and great niece, Mickey and Carly Pepper; step-brothers and step-sisters, Donna (Gordon) Corbin of Tarentum, Jane (Larry) Porter of Raleigh, NC, Robert (Linda) Haflett of Mifflintown, David (Darlene) Haflett of Munnsville, NY, Stacey (Jennifer) Ferguson of Canton, Kylie (Andy) Sentyz and Karla (Matt) Morgenstern all of West Chester, many aunts, uncles, cousins, step-nieces and step-nephews.
In addition to her father and step-father Norman Haflett, she was predeceased by an aunt, Evelyn Boyer.
Calling hours are at the Alba Christian Church from 11 – 1 p.m. Monday, Aug. 8.Pastor Charlotte Morse will officiate the funeral service at 1 p.m. followed by burial in Alba Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, consider a memorial in Joanne's name to the American Cancer Society, 1948 E.
