Marvin Luther
Carpenter
November 10, 1961 – May 1, 2014
Marvin Carpenter, 52, of Shunk, PA passed away very unexpectedly at home on Thursday, May 1, 2014.
Marvin Luther Carpenter, known as "Bear Claw" to family and friends, was born on November 10, 1961 in Williamsport. He graduated from Canton High School with the class of 1980 where he excelled in Warrior football and enjoyed wrestling. Marvin was employed by Harrisburg's Local 158 Heavy and Highway Union for 30 years. Two passions in his life were farming and caring for his animals, especially his special black calves. Marvin and his wife, the former Wendy Zinram, made a good team when it came to the operations of their hog and cattle farm. He will be remembered as a good family man, a man who gave to others and felt good about his deeds. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, trapping and fishing. He also loved his grandchildren and sharing times with family.
In addition to his father, John D. Carpenter of Shunk, surviving are his wife Wendy; children, Melissa, Mariah, Mindy and Lane; several grandchildren; a brother, Lonnie Carpenter of Canton and several nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
He was predeceased by his grandparents, Dean and Elvina Williams and Ralph and Agnes Carpenter.
It was Marvin's request that a time of celebration be held for his loved ones and friends that will be announced at a later date. Those who wish may consider a donation in Marvin's memory to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 4383 Bethlehem, PA 18018 or to a charity of one's choice. Pepper Funeral Home, Canton, PA is assisting his family with arrangements.
